Web Terminology

WEB EDITING: A system of Internet server that supports formatted documents and later is edited.

URL or Uniform Resource Locator; is the global address of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web.
For example: ftp://www.pcwebopedia.com/stuff.exe

HTTP or Hyper Text Transfer Protocol is the protocol used by the World Wide Web. It shows hoe the messages are formatted and transmitted and what types of actions both Web servers and browsers.


WWW: It is a system of the Internet servers that supports formatted documents. These documents are formatted in what is called HTML.

HTML or Hyper Text Markup Language is the language which is used to show the structure and layout of documents on the World Wide Web.

WEB BROWSER or browser is a software application used to display Web pages.
For example: Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari.

WEB EDITOR is a web authoring tool to design, build, mange and publish Web sites.

WEB SERVER is a computer program who’s responsible for accepting HTTP requests.

SEARCH ENGINE is a software program that seeks in a database for information on specific terms.
