My ideal computer

The computer I would choose is a computer that is fast, has a lot of ram memory,long lasting battery, USB connection, no virus, light and is long lasting. There are several brands which offer similar things.

I now have an Acer. I have had it for 3 or 4 years. It still works well however, it is not as fast as before but it has never caused any problems. It has USB connections. It has a wireless connection, webcam and a lot of memory.

Mac is the only operating system I know that has no virus. The new computers are fast and Mac's even allow to part the disc into two. Ableing you to have the Mac operating systen and a windows operating system. New Mac laptops are very light. The battery lasts up to 10 hours. It also has USB connections. It hasa lot of memory and you can later enlarge it.

I think that for the carrer I am going to study I do not need a computer with many things. I just need it tio basically be fast, have wireless conection and nothing else in particular. I want to study medicine so I think I would only need the computer to take notes and look up information. I mean i would not have to do any big project on econommmics with which I would need to have special programs or applications.

In conclusion, I am happy with the computer I have and it is ideal for what I need it. People say Macs are better but as I am accstumbed toWindows I dislike Macs. My comuter is an Acer TravelMate 3270 series.

Itunes is an application developed by Apple Inc.. It serves to play and organize music and video files. Furthermore, it allows people to administer the contents of the iPods, iPads and iPhones. Through Itunes you can connect to the Apple Store where you will be able to buy and download: music, videos, movies and applications you might like. These things you will have to pay for but Apple also offers free podcasts.

When Itunes was launched, 10 years ago, it was seen as something really useful because simply with a program you could organize all your files and you could even create playlists and other playlists in the playlists. Itunes was a tool that helped people and even allowed to buy things at reasonable prices.

Itunes is considered the main podcast client because soon after Itunes4.9 was released the number of podcastsdownload tripled itself. To access a podcast in Itunes you firstly have to suscribe to a podcast and then the podcast will download automatically or manually onto the computer and from there you have the chance to pass the podcast to any MP3 Player.

Using only the voice, people have become actors, voice actors. Just changing the tone of the voice they can change the situation. This is what podcasting can be able todo. Podcasting can be a job most of us have not thougth of.

VoiceOver is a production technique with a voice which is used in radio, presentation, television film and theater. Not only is voiceused in Podcast but also music and sound effects. Then there are 3 tracks: one for voice, another for music and a third one for sound effects. Joe Cipriano is a famous exmple of podcaster, he presents the series ‘Two and a Half men’. A good thing about podcast is the in its pure form podcasts are free, you don’t buy htem or sell them eventhough people like Joe Cipriano have made of it their buisness. You can download podcasts from Itunes, player and subscripter.

RSS (ReallySimple Syndication) it is when you suscribe; each time the thing you suscribed to launches a new thing (podcast) you get informed and you can download it if you want.

There are two main audio editors we are going to use:
Audacity: You can download it free and usually Window computers use it.
Garageband: Comes with the Macs (It is in iLife)

At first we had decided to do a video about Plantzia, a town near the sea. However, seeing that we did not know how to develop this idea, we decided to change it.
We finally opted for the idea of making a recopilation of the 50 most wonderful and beautiful places of the world. We decided to chose 10 places from each of the 5 continents.

Equipment used:

For some of the photographs we used our own cameras because we had been to some of the places such as , New York ( Times Square and Brookyln Bridge)
For other photographs we used a scanner and the remaining photographs we collected from Internet.
To make the video we first put the photos in PowerPoint with the information and then we took a picture of the screen and opened it in Paint. Once opened we saved it as a jpg file so we could insert this file in Movie Maker.
Once all the pictures and audio were inserted in Movie Maker we edit it with Movie Maker’s main features ( such as Transitions and Effects)

Delivery Format:

When having to deliver it we had several difficulties: Firstly, we tried to send it via Gmail but the file was to large. After, we tried to compress the video (ZIP Folder) but it was still too large. Then we had the magnificent idea of using Dropbox , however; when it was 94% uploaded, the computer froze. Finally we decided to create a Youtube account and upload the video there.

Digital video Editing is the manipulation of video images. PAL, NTSC and SECAM are the different TV systems used. Their main differences are NTSC is used mainly in America and Canada. PAL is used in Western Europe, Australia. SECAM is used in Eastern Europe and France. The differences are that they are all incompatible one with another.

The most common video format is avi. I use mpg because it is the video format which is compatible with the ipod and because it is the only one I have tried because I know my computer will be able to open it. When you want to convert from one format to another you need a converter, such as iWisoft Free Video Converter. I think the best quality video is avi but I am not sure because I did not find it in Internet. The fastest data transfer connection is USB, 480mbits per second (USB 2.0) .Movie Maker has a storyboard so you can insert the images. It allows video, picture and sound. You can insert effects. It even shows the video in real life time.

A script is the outline of the video, in this case, that tells you what is going to happen and the storyboard is the pictures or drawings of the script. Fps stands for frames per second. Footage means unedited/ basic film in Spanish is metraje. The advantage o video streaming over video downloading is that video streaming does not occupy space in the computer while video downloading does.

This summer after coming back from New York I stayed a week here in Bilbao and then on the 1st of July I went to Germany. I spent the month there, learning German. This is my third year going to Germany and this time I went to Koblenz-Vallendar which is a small town near Köln and Bonn. This was a residence and we were around 40 people. Many came from Spain but there were also american, canadian, french, danish, polish, turkish, italian, swiss, greek, chinese people. Between us we spoke a mixture of english, spanish, german and french. During my stay I went to Köln and Bonn which are beautiful cities. The weather was really good and we spent most of the day outside in the swimming pool or doing some sport. In the morning we had 3 hours of class in the morning and then we had free time until the night. I came back to Spain at the end of the month.

The first week end of August I went to Madrid to visit my family there. In the end I stayed a week there and when I came back from there I went to Turkey. I stayed two weeks there during which I did a tour around half of the country becasuse on the eastern side of the country there is practicaly nothing . I visited cities such as Istambul, Efeso, Troy, Capadocia, Antalya and Pammukale. What I most liked was the city of Istambul even though it was really hot. If you like to see a mixture of cultures this is a good city to do so because it is the ancient Constantinople. Troy you could not say it isa city because they are only ruins and you can just say this is Troy. Efeso is a beautiful ancient city however,
when I went it conincided with several ferries and there could be several hundreds of people walking on the ruins. Capadocia was nice because during one sunrise I went on a baloon and saaw this region from the sky which was really nice. In Antalya we reached 44 degress at 11 in the morning and we practically passed the day in the swimming pool which by the end of the day was so hot you did not even want to go in.

The following video is about four frineds who plan a camping trip. They are backpacking so they have to plan what each of them is taking with them. They contact esch other via email. At first they simple send one and then they begin to send more and more. However, email is not good for coordination beacuse the important information is all scattered in the inboxes. The solution to this is a web page named Wiki, since this web pagemakes coordination easy.

Wiki is easy because you can erase easily. THe two most important buttons are edit and save. Editing enables you to write or to change the web page. When you've finished editting it then you save it and become sa web page again. This way the whole group can edit and save as they wish making it easier than emails. Furthermore, wiki lets you create links to other pages.

Glogster

Glogster is a social network where people can communicate with each other. This social network is different from other social networks because the users can create interactive posters. This social network was created in the year 2007 and in 2008 it was selected as the fourth most successful web start-up project.

Glogster is user-friendly because not only is a social network, which normally are easy to use, but also it allows you to insert more things than another social network would do.

The main features are that you can upload music, videos, audio, and pictures. Furthermore, you can write text and you can share it with your friends and colleagues. These features can be considered the advantages of Glogster, apart from allowing you to control the design of your presentation.

Some disadvantages Glogster has are: that the text formatting is limited, the minimum screensize is 1024x768 and also it does not have a chat where people connected online could chat.

Things that you can do with it: Firstly, you can upload photos, graphics, videos, text, music… Secondly, if you belong to some social networks such as Twitter, Myspace or Facebook among others, you can post your Glog on them and share them with all your friends. Furthermore, you can comment on peoples Glogs.

I would recommend using Glogster if you really like technology and if you belong to a social network and use it because this network allows you to do posters which other social networks don’t. I also find that perhaps creating an interactive poster is interesting and different from doing a non interactive poster. However, if you like technology then it is a good way to learn new things.

Para María Amelia y el Viejo Pescador

In the article published last week and written by Maruja Torres we are introduced to an old woman, María Amelia, and a group named El Viejo Pescador.
María Amelia was and old lady who at the age of 95 her grandson gifted her with a blog. She lived in a town in Galicia, Muxía. She passed away three years ago; however, during this period of time this lady did not stop writing in her blog for a day. She used this blog to speak to her friends and to entertain herself. She received a prize which was given in Germany and it is the BOB. Furthermore she was also recerived by the president of Spain, Zapatero.
El Viejo Pescador is a group which tries to incentivate the people to show their elderly how to use Internet. THey also want to promote the International Prize for Elderly Bloggers. The Viejo Pescador promotes this prize and to get people to show their elderly how to use blogs, use internet and so on. The Pescador has gone to the important people in culture, periodism, literature and blogs to try to get the incentivation.

Web safe color is what appears in both Microsoft Internet Explorer; using Mozilla, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer; and Macintosh, Safari. Both systems contain 256 color mode. Furthermore, in HTML the colors are expressed in two different ways. Either they are named in hexadecimal values, as #FF3097, or with a color name, as violet. It is said that there are only 212 web-safe colors because there are some colors which Windows does not render correctly. To be sure you are using the web-safe colors in Dreamweaver you have to select your color from the web-safe palette. However, if you decide you want another color that is not in this palette then you have to safe them. This colors are chosen in the palette but clicking on a tab.

The primary colors of light are: red, green and blue. Meanwhile, the primary color of pigments are: cyan, magenta and yellow. However, if there is a lack of light there would be no color, so it is essential. An example of additive color system is RGB and the additive color system involves light being emitted directly from a source and then it an object reflect the light. White is produced by combinig the additive colors all together. During this process various amounts of red, green, and blue light are mixed and produce other colors. RGB stands for red, green and blue. Meanwhile CMYK stands for cyan, magenta, yellow and black.

My Summer Holidays

This summer I have been to various places. Just after school finished I spent the month of July in Germany. I stayed in Augsburg, a town as large as Getxo and 1 hour by car from Munich. I stayed with a family,they were really nice and it was the second time they had a guest at their house.

The first three weeks I stayed there I was alone but during the last week a girl from Switzerland came to the house. She was my age and she was going to stay two weeks more.

Throughout my stay I went to visit several cultural places. For example; the first week I went to the Castle Neuschwanstein. This castle is like a national emblem from Germany and you might recognize this castle from the Disney logo.This castle was built by order of King Ludwig II. I also visited Munich twice.

The first time I went to Munich I visited the Olympiaturm, the tallest tower in the city. From this tower 291m high you can see on bright clear days the Alps. Apart from this I also went to visit the streets of Munich. Furthermore, one day I went to another castle, Linderhof, which had been built in the middle of a valley in the Alps.

Castle of Neuschwanstein

After the wonderful time I spent in Germany I went to Navacerrada, a small town in the province of Madrid. I spent a week there with my parents and my aunt, uncle and little cousin. During that week I relaxed and hiked mountains.

Two weeks after going to Navacerrada I found myself in a plane for 11 hours going in direction of Costa Rica. I spent 16 days with my parents in a tour around the country of Costa Rica. Costa Rica is a beautiful country. If you like nature this is the best country o visit. Costa Rica is mainly composed of Natural Parks. I visited the capital San Jose and the rest of important parks and cities. I also visited the Volcano of Arenal who is awake and sometimes has small eruptions. I had a really nice time there. I saw crocodiles, turtles, tucans, caimans, snakes and many many insects.

I came back to Spain on the 25th of August and since then to the 3rd of September I stayed in Medina de Pomar. That was my summer.

The European elections took place yesterday June 7th, 2009.

Results in Spain:
The winner has been the PP with 23 seats or 42,23% of votes;then the PSOE with 21 seats or 38,51% of votes; the Coalicion for Europa 2 seats or 5,12% of votes; U-ICV-EUiA-BA with 2 seats or 2,87 votes; UPyD a seat and Europa de los puelblos Verdes also a seat with 2,50%of votes.
THe winning camndidate has been Jaime Mayor Oreja of the PP Party. THe man of the photgraph.

Results in the Basque country:

There are no seats in the parliament but there is the percentage of the votes. THe political parties with got some percentage of viotes are. Coaslicion por Europa with 28,54%; then PSOE with 27,61%; PP with 15,98%; the II with 19,89%; Europa de los pueblos with 5,65; U-ICV-EUiA-BAwith 4,17%; and UpyD with 1,49%.

Skype 4.0 Released

The 3rd of February, 2009, Skype announced in Luxembourg that it had released Skype 4.0 for Windows. This new version offers full-screen video calling, crystal clear call quality and it is easier to use than before. Calling to mobile devices all around the world at low rates.

People can now call each other and because the quality is quite well, 30 framaes per second, they see very good. The new audio improves and uses a 50% less bandwidth. Also its set up is easier with the microphone, webcam and headset Also the Conversation Tab lets you speak to more people at a time. Also there is instand SMS messaging. There are two ways to view Skype: Default View, everything in the same window or Compact view everything on different windows.

Cyclone in the ASB

A week from today, there was a cyclone in all of Spain. It affected especially the northern part of Spain. It caused many imperfections and it evn killed several people. For example, in Barcelona several children were killed on Saturday when they were practicing indoor baseball in a spotcenter. The roof collapsed on top of their head. Here in the Basque Country many trees fell down. Furthermore tiles were thrown down and lots of zones went out of light. An example of this last was Balmaseda.

At the ASB the consequences were also suffered. Eventhough, the EFL had class on Saturday the school in the end had to close. I arrived at school at nine, at the same time as the Las Arenas bus. Many of the students who had arrived in previous buses: Bilbao and Neguri, began telling the other ones that the school was going to close. However, the teachers were telling that w were going to have school.

At first, I could not see anything wrong. However, when I began walking down the hall rain began to fall on me so I looked up and saw that the roof of the hall had flown away. I continued walking to my homeroom the only thing I saw was that the floor was wet. I reached my homeroom and I saw that the fence had fallen down. After that we went to normal class and then at second hour when we were in class Mr. Jenkins came in and told us to call our parents to come and pick us up because the school was going to close for safety reasons. The school had no electricity and on Tuesday, they had to use a generator to produce electricity.

I conclusion the cyclone ended and now it is cold again but they do not expect another cyclone.

From the picture you can go to an analogic camera or to a digital camera. From the analogic camera it goes to the cartridge and through a negative process it becomes negative and then it can be copied ot it can be scanned from both these process you can print it into paper. Meanwhile from the digital camera which has the CCD which is a sensor. It has memory cards where the images are stored. From the camera it can go to a printer and be printed or to a computer. From the computer it can go to the Web, to a digital file, an e-mail or in a multimedia presentation.

There are many different types of photography. The following are the different types: Aerial, Adventure and Action, Amateur, Animal, Architecture, Artistic, Astrophotography, Aura, Black and White, Camera Phone, Digiscoping, Documentary, Event, Forensic, Infrared, Large Format, Kirlian, Macro, Medical, Microscopic humans, Modelling, Nature, Night, Panoramic, Panormal, People, Pinhole, Scenic, Satellite, Scientific, Sport, Stereoscopic, Stock, Travel, Ultraviolet, Underwater, Urban and Timelapse.

There are diferent types of potogrphy, those mentioned above they are used to take beer pictures depending where and how. All of these types of photography take care of the subject, the frame of the picture, from the angles it has been taken, the balance if it is dark or light. Also the lines, vertical and horizontal when componing the picture.
This is a brief summary of the different types of photography.

My camera is the Casio EX-Z80. The mega pixels are 8.1. The LCD is 2.6 inches. The optical zoom is 3x. It has an Auto Shutter and a Movie button. The Battery is from Casio and NP-60. It has a USB connection and AV.

Digital Cameras:

1. Stores images digitally
2. Can be downloaded into the computer
3. Has more memory
4. Has more zoom and can do videos
5. It is smaller and easier to use

Analogic Cameras

1. Stores the images in the film
2. Cannot make videos
3. Has less zoom
4. Can not download the images directly from the camera
5. Heavier and occupies more and not so much memory

Hi,

We are back here at school. This year I am in 10th grade. Our homeroom teacher is Mr. Miller. We have a new teacher this year called Mr. Jenkins. In my class there are also four new people.

Day 100 and the 40th aniversary of the school

Today 18th of Fwebruary 2008 is the day 100 in the school. To celebrate the day 100 in the entrance of the office they have sticked a poster. Also the smaller children have did things related to the day 100 and the 40th aniversary of the school. Older kids like us ( grade 9 ) have done something related to the numbers 100 and 40. We had to find the base numbers of 5, 8 and 20.

This year is also the 40th aniversary of the school. This school was founded in 1968. It started very small with few students and now we have around 300 years.

My Last Weekend

This past weeekend I went to Medina de Pomar. Medina de Pomar is a small town in Burgos.
There I have a house I pass most of my weekends. Saturday morning I went to another town called Puentedey to buy some trees to plant in the garden. In the afternoon I went out with my friends. Next morning I went to Frias. There was a market there. After eating I did some homework and in the afternoon I came back to Algorta. I saw TV and went to sleep. And until today.

Elections in Spain

The two main parties in Spain are the PSOE and the PP. The PSOE is leaded by Jose Lius Rodriguez Zapatero. The leader of the PP is Mariano Rajoy. The PSOE has decided with the approval of the King that the elections will be on the 9th of march 2008. The pre-campaign has all ready started.
